Windows 3.x Installation
------------------------
The Windows 3.x installation allows you to choose which components you wish to
install. To register your account you must install the Launcher and Internet
Explorer components.
If you already have installed Internet Explorer, the main installer screen will
detect it as being installed and disable the installation option. If for some
reason you wish to reinstall it, you can run iesetup.exe in the Win31/Iexplore
directory.
Windows 95/98/NT4 Installation
---------------------------
The Windows 95/98/NT4 installation allows you to choose which components you wish
to install. To register your account you must install the Launcher component and
have an internet browser installed. If you already have Internet Explorer
version 3.02 or later installed you need not reinstall the browser. However, if
you do not have Internet Explorer version 4 or later installed, you will not be
able to use a secure HTTP connection to register your account.
The iPass wizard is an optional component, it is only required if you envisage
taking your computer out of the UK and wanting to dial into your account.
If you already have installed Internet Explorer, the main installer screen will
detect it as being installed and disable the installation option. If for some
reason you wish to reinstall it, you can run ie5setup.exe in the Win95_nt/Iexplore
directory.
Similarly, if you have already installed the iPass wizard, you can run setup.exe
in the Win95_nt/Ipass directory.

Netscape
--------
The product ships with Internet Explorer, but if you wish to use a Netscape
browser, you can obtain it from http://www.netscape.com/.
Note that the Launcher will not switch proxies on & off for Netscape dependin
on whether LAN or dial-up access is being used.
Known Problems with Windows 3.x
-------------------------------
The iPass dial wizard, FTP, Ping and Telnet programs are not available on Windows 3.x.
The Registration Wizard sometimes crashes when you close it. The crash happens after
your account details have been updated on the PC, so it does not affect your use of
the Launcher.
You cannot register without installing Internet Explorer 3.03, but the Register
button on the Setup program becomes enabled once you have installed the Launcher.
Do not click the register button until you have installed both the Launcher and IE.
Hotspots occasionally are not displayed correctly due to memory problems. Restarting
Windows normally fixes this.
The Registration Wizard may lock up if it is run at the same time as the Launcher.
Avoid running them at the same time.
If the LAN option is selected in the Dialler Settings dialog in the Launcher,
when the browser or mail is launched, Internet Explorer will try to use Dial-Up
Networking to make the connection. Only Dial-up access is currently usable on
Windows 3.x.
Windows 3.11 is detected as Windows 3.10 on the Hardware Screen of the Registration
Wizard.
Secure HTTP is not used for registration on Windows 3.1. However, registration
information is not transferred across the Internet if you use a modem to
register your account.
